WINTER ACTIVITIES
September 2013

At the recent meeting held to discuss the club's winter activities and other subjects, the following list was created.

WEEKLY TURBO/CIRCUIT AND STRETCH SESSION
These sessions are now every Tuesday evening from 7.30 pm. The first one of the winter is Tue 1st October. Mandy is going to create a 6 week training schedule and hopefully Derek will provide the circuit training one.
As usual there will be tea/coffee and chat available at the end of every session.

WEEKLY OUTDOOR EVENING TRAINING RUN.
Starting on Friday 4th October there will be an evening run, lights essential. The intention is to meet on the Sainsbury's circuit 7 - 7.30 pm. If there are enough riders with the strongest lights then we could go round the lanes and return to the Sainsbury circuit. The alternative is to stay on the Sainsbury route. The good thing about it you can take a lap out and rejoin when it comes round again!

WINTER CLUB RUNS
Now that the racing season is all but over we hope to see more riders taking part in Sunday runs. There will be a fast group and a slow group so no excuses. We will decide on the morning where and what mileage. The idea is to keep it to fairly local circuits so if you are pushed for time or have other commitments you can easily jump out at an appropriate place. The meeting place is the entrance to Calderglen park for 9.30am

WINTER 10'S
Usual place on the A77, first rider off at 10.00am

OCTOBER 13TH 2013
NOVEMBER 3RD 2013
DECEMBER 1ST 2013
JANUARY 5TH 2014
FEBRUARY 2ND 2014
MARCH 2ND 2014
APRIL 6TH 2014

TRACK NIGHT
Mandy is organising this and there are plenty of takers. No date as yet, cause SCU being SCU make it very difficult.

HILL CLIMB
The date for this has already been posted, Sunday 27 th October. Meet at Auldhouse Cross at 11am and take it from there.

CHRISTMAS NIGHT OUT
Proposed Xmas night out on the last weekend in November 29th or 30th. Venue TBA

CLUB RUNS
I have saved this issue until last. As you know there has been some talk about this recently, members complaining quite rightly about the lack of support for these runs. For next year it was decided to pick out one Sunday in every month from May - September and target this as a social club run. This may solve some of the problems with this event. It was decided to wait and see the racing calender for 2014 before confirming these dates. Venues suggested were Moffat, 5 ferries, 3 ferries and the Dunoon circuit.

Another suggestion was during the summer to have a club run on a Thursday evening. This might compensate those who miss the weekend. There was also a third option, to target a sportive every month and use this as a Sunday run.

Anyhow we have a bit of time over the winter to mull this over. In the meantime I think you'll agree the winter activities will keep us pretty busy.

WINTER 10 March 3rd 2013

Thankfully the snow decided to stay away as did the rain and left the dozen riders taking part with reasonable time trialling conditions. The only bugbear was the cold.

It was nice to see some faces who made a welcome return, notably Bob Scott, John Donnell, Ali Bean and Keith Stoddart. Bob was back to try and finish this time, a puncture putting paid to his effort last month. John was out trying to forget his fractured ribs after an altercation with a tree. Anyhow it was good to see everyone.

As I said earlier, most riders agreed conditions were not to bad, 'quite enjoyable'  someone said. Are we talking about the A77 here?
So to times, I think everyone was happy with their times.

Times
Bomb Scott DNF
Harrison Ewart 35.19
John Donnell DNF
Mandy Cullie 35.15
David Aitken 31.25
Alan Rutherford 31.10
Andy Wilson 31.49
Ali Bean 30.40
Alan McAulay 29.30
Alan Graham 29.19
Colin Gillespie 28.48
Colin Meikle 27.03

Fastest on the day was Colin Meikle with a 27.03. Unfortunately Bomb Scott punctured AGAIN as did John Donnell. Thanks to Roberta and Andy for the refreshments. Well if you liked it so much, you can do it all again next month, 7th April for the final Winter 10 this year.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
21 JANUARY 2013

MINUTES

Please see below for minutes taken at the above meeting.

1. Because of various reasons there were no minutes from the 2012 meeting available There was however a Treasurers report. Andy reported that at the time of last years AGM the club held £175.94 in total

2. Race Secretary's report.
Andy reported the club's Willie Rafferty Open 10 attracted a good field of 57 riders. A profit was also made this time around of £11.49. The income from the Auldhouse League was slightly down this year, probably the wet summer had something to do with that. The confined 10 though was extremely well attended this year.

3. Committee
The committee for 2013 was as follows,
CHAIRMAN Colin Gillespie
TREASURER Andy Wilson
SECRETARY David Turner
RACE SECRETARY Andy Wilson

4. Treasurers Report
Cash in Hand £81.29
Account £965.66

The main reasons for a healthy bank balance was the fact that a good deal of club kit had been sold, £266 worth. Added to that was the club received a grant form SL council for £300. A full financial report was made available to view.

5. Other Business
DATES,  The dates for the 2 trials before the Auldhouse league kicked off in earnest are the 23rd and 30th April. The league starts officially on 7th May.

Other dates,
Confined 10, 15th August
Hill Climb 27th October
Winter 10's 3rd March and 7th April

ACTIVITIES
It was agreed as part of the process of raising the club's profile, we should take part in certain events. These events were identified as the Georgetown Cup and the Rothseay Weekend. Further to this a long weekend training camp was voiced for Mid May. This would be put to the forum and taken from there.

The club had an application for a Community grant to complete and return. It was decided to try and obtain funds for junior riders wishing to take part in the track racing and accreditation in the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome.

Further discussion was to take place to look into the possibility of obtaining funding for a youth/track coach. Mandy Cullie voiced her interest in this position.Other funding avenues were to be explored by the secretary to cover these potential costs.

There was no further business.

WINTER 10 JANUARY 6TH 2013

Considering we were not going to hold a 10 in January there was a good turnout for this event. As usual the weather on the A77 played it's part, stiff breeze and the rain came on just as we were about to start.

It was good to see a couple of new faces taking part to, father and son Bob and Alex Scott who rode as a 2 up and Gregor Cameron who just managed to make the start. The general consensus of the riders was " what the bloody hell are we doing here." But of course that didn't stop anyone from riding.

Fastest man on the day was Colin Meikle with the only ride under 30 minutes. Some other riders posted good times for this early in the year notably Alan McAuley, Colin Gillespie and Gregor Cameron. Unfortunately for the father and son team a puncture each put paid to their times but better luck next time.

TIMES
Colin Meikle 28.07
Alan McAuley 30.26
Colin Gillespie 30.47
Gregor Cameron 32.00
Alan Graham 32.34
David Aitken 33.39
Alan Rutherford 34.07
Andy Wilson 34.13
Tim Ewart 36.56
Bob & Alex Scott DNF

The date for the February 10 will have to be changed as it clashes with the presentation lunch on 3rd February
